Hawaiian Cruising Guide
Cruise Prep
Timed, not dumped

Everything you need to
know — right when
you need it.

Most cruise sites hand you a 40-item checklist the day you sign up. We don't. Your prep arrives one small email at a time, paced against your actual sail date, so nothing gets skimmed, forgotten, or crammed in the night before embarkation.

Day What arrives Why then
T-7 Document checklist & passport reminder Still time to renew or reorder if something's missing
T-5 Packing list tuned to your itinerary's ports Laundry day, not laptop-open-in-a-panic day
T-3 Parking, luggage tags & terminal map Fresh enough to remember, early enough to book parking
T-1 Arrival-time strategy & what to carry on The one thing that actually changes your boarding wait
Day 0 "You're sailing" note & first port's free things to do Landing exactly when you can use it

Quick Answers

Common prep questions

Will I have Wi-Fi at sea?

Most ships offer paid satellite packages that are slow and priced by the day or the voyage. If you just need texts and check-ins, look at your carrier's cruise or international roaming add-on first — it's often cheaper. We send a comparison two weeks out.

Do I need cash, and in what currency?

U.S. dollars work at every Hawaiian port — no currency exchange needed. Bring some small bills anyway; a few local vendors, farmers markets, and shave-ice stands are cash- or Venmo-only.

What's the actual dress code onboard?

Daytime is resort-casual everywhere. Evenings usually offer a "smart casual" main dining option and one or two "elegant" nights that are dressier but rarely require a jacket. We'll tell you exactly what your specific ship expects.

How early should I arrive on embarkation day?

Boarding groups matter more than clock time. Arriving right at your assigned window, rather than hours early, is usually the shortest wait — and we'll send your terminal's specific pattern.
